Belle-Clair Speedway & Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 mourn the loss of track announcer Mike Meurer (AKA: The Talker Guy)

By Jimmy Dearing St. Louis, MO (May 30th, 2012) Belle-Clair Speedway & Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 are mourning the loss of track announcer Mike Meurer. Mike suffered a heart attack and passed away Tuesday evening while visiting family and friends in California. Both tracks send their heart felt condolences out to Mike’s family and friends. Mike and his wife Tina were considered part of the family to track promoters Don Hoener (Belle-Clair Speedway) and Ray & Sue Marler and Ken Schrader (Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55). Many of the young racers racing today at both tracks grew up listening to Mike announce and dreamed of some day having Mike announce their name while racing. On Saturday, May 19th, Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 will give one lucky fan $1,000 and that fan will get to choose his/her favorite driver to be given another $1,000!!!!Here are the details and rules…On May 19th, all fans 18 years old or older that buy a grandstand ticket will also get an additional ticket for a drawing for the $1,000…That drawing will be held around intermission. Severe Weather Forces Postponement of World of Outlaws Tonight

The event at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 is rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13 PEVELY, Mo. – April 14, 2012 – Severe weather the past 24 hours and continuing showers have forced the World of Outlaws and track officials to postpone tonight’s event at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13. Sold out reserved tickets will now be valid for the Oct. 13 race. Joey Saldana claimed Friday’s feature at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Ky., to pull within five points of championship leader Sammy Swindell. It was Saldana’s second win of the season, which puts him a top the leader board with Tim Kaeding and Donny Schatz, who is third in the points standings – only 12 behind Swindell. Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 opens the 2012 racing season this Saturday, March 31st!

By Jimmy DearingFederated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 PR Pevely, MO (March 27th, 2012) – Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (formerly I-55 Raceway) gets in full swing this Saturday, March 31st with the 2012 season opener. This event will also kick off the weekly series points championship for the 2012 racing season. The weekly racing series will feature five divisions in 2012. The UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models, UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman and UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stocks all return this season. A new division for 2012 will be the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pure Stock division.

St. Louis Area Race Tracks Ready for Big Weekend Featuring Midwest’s Top Racers

…I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO & Highland (IL) Speedway Bookend Super Late Model Events During August 25th-27th ‘Valvoline Tri-State Challenge’ St. Louis, MO (Aug. 20) High speed drama returns to St. Louis this coming weekend as the most talented short track aces from the Midwest go head to head in the annual ‘Tri-State Challenge’. Two local tracks will bookend the three-race super late model weekend as drivers will take the green flag at Highland Speedway this Thursday (Aug 25) night in the first of three nights offering $5,000 to win events which concludes Saturday at I-55 Raceway. The drivers of the MARS and UMP late model sanctions will travel to Paducah, Kentucky for the Friday evening portion of the ‘Tri-State Challenge’ before returning to St. Louis in the weekend’s battle royal at I-55 Raceway in Pevely on Saturday (Aug 27).
