Pevely, MO-August 6, 2010- Tim Shaffer has been the hottest driver in all of racing over the last week. Heading into the opener of the Ironman 55 weekend on Friday night at I-55 Raceway, the veteran had won in four straight starts over a six-day span. He extended that streak to five consecutive wins in seven days, as he was victorious in the opener of the two-day event at the high-banked 1/3-mile bullring. Shaffer started on the front row of the 30-lapper and chased Jason Sides, who started on the pole, in the early going. A brief shower moved over the track as the first main event of the night, which was the UMP DIRTcar Late Models, rolled onto the track. The cars quickly exited the track and fans took cover from the rain, but the shower would only last a few minutes. Crews quickly worked the track back in and the UMP DIRTcar Late Models rolled back onto the track for their main event. Ken Schrader would take the lead at the drop of the green flag and would lead all twenty-five laps, although he would face a constant challenge from Jason McBride. Jeff Johns jumped out to the early lead over pole sitter Paul Roider and paced the first ten laps. After several laps of side by side racing with Roider, Mark Voigt would finally get clear and into the second position and would reel Johns in. Pevely, MO (June 5th, 2010) A stellar field of 44 Northern Allstar/UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models were on hand for the final leg of the Tri-State Challenge at I-55 Raceway. The action kicked off with qualifying and Billy Moyer (who holds the track record at I-55 Raceway in a Super Late Model) would set fast time with a lap time of 12.822 seconds around the 1/3 mile dirt oval. Moyer, who’s pill draw had him qualifying and running his heat race with group 2 that included two other drivers that qualified in the 12 second bracket which were his son, Billy Moyer, Jr. and Shannon Babb. Pevely, MO (May 8th, 2010) After rain had washed out the racing action the previous two weekends, Mother Nature finally cooperated and a big field of cars were on hand to participate in the action. Craig Smith of Godfrey, Illinois claimed his first win at I-55 Raceway in the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division. Smith led all twenty five laps of the main event, but it was far from a cakewalk. During the first half of the race, Smith had Brian Shirley all over his rear bumper with Mark Voigt chasing close behind. Voigt would soon make a move on Shirley and take over the second spot and then proceed to really apply the pressure on Smith for the lead.
