Nienhiser Set For Ironman 55 Weekend

PETERSEN MEDIA: After a three-race weekend that saw him record two Top-10’s with the MOWA and a 15th place finish with the All Star Circuit of Champions, Chapin, IL driver Paul Nienhiser is looking forward to a busy four race stretch that will include both nights of the Ironman 55 in Pevely, MO as well as the Front Row Challenge and the Ultimate Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA.

“It was a pretty good weekend for us heading into another busy and tough weekend ahead,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We have had some really good speed lately, we just have had some bad luck that has probably cost us a few finishing positions.”

Winning his heat race on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, Nienhiser would line up fifth in the feature event. On a very racy track that feature multiple grooves, Nienhiser would jump up into second and chase after the leader in heavy traffic.

Doing a 360 spin under a lap car while battling for the lead, Nienhiser would lose a spot and slip back to third. Getting back in position to fight for the lead again late in the race, Nienhiser would make a big move in the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design entry to briefly take the top spot before a cross over move put him back to second.

As they jockeyed in traffic on the last lap, Nienhiser would see an opening and jump at the opportunity only to see contact with a slower car again send him in a spin cycle and put him back to fifth at the finish.

Saturday night was an eventful night at Macon for Nienhiser. Starting third in the feature event, Nienhiser would feel like he had a bull-eye on his back as he would be involved in a couple of incidents that would both knock him out of the Top-10 and send him to the tail end of the field.

His third time coming from the back, he would race his way back up to sixth only to then see the track take rubber and his charge would slow as he would take the checkered flag with a sixth place finish.

Sunday night the three-race weekend would come to a close as the Illinois native checked in a 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA to go to battle with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

Going out in an early group for time trials, Nienhiser would end up seventh fastest in his group and found himself in an early hole. Finishing Sixth in his heat race, Nienhiser would work his way to a third place finish in the ‘B’, and punch his ticket into the feature event.

From the 23rd starting position, Nienhiser would continue to show speed against the star studded field as he was able to claw his way forward. Salvaging his night the best he could, Nienhiser took the checkered flag with a 15th place finish.

“You run on some tight little bullrings and those nights are going to happen,” Nienhiser said. “I was just glad to get out of the weekend with everything still in tact, and an really looking forward to this weekend. Big thanks to all my guys and partners for everything they do.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, JRC Transportation, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-32, Wins-5, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-12

ON TAP: Nienhiser will battle the World of Outlaws this Friday and Saturday at I 55 Speedway in Pevely, MO has a tentative 305 race on his schedule in Jacksonville, IL on Sunday night, and will then take part in the Front Row Challenge and Ultimate Challenge in Oskaloosa, IA Monday and Tuesday.
