Big Weekend Sees MOWA in Pevely and West Burlington!

(Bill W) May 22, 2012 – Two big events over the Memorial Day weekend are set for the MOWA sprint car series! On Saturday night, May 26, they head to the high banks of the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri! On Sunday, May 27, the 34 Raceway near West Burlington, Iowa will play host to the ultra-competitive series!

AJ Bruns emerged from a 29-car field at Jacksonville, Illinois to snare the season opening win Friday night aboard the Bruns Service Center #44. Bruns is expected to be joined at this weekend’s events by defending series champion, Jerrod Hull, Alex Shanks, Jimmy Hurley and Ben Wagoner, who completed Jacksonville’s top five.

Pevely should attract several Missouri-area regulars as well. Brian Brown, Ryan Bunton and Danny Lasoski who won the series opener last season at 34 Raceway have expressed their intentions on racing Sunday at the entertaining 3/8-mile oval.

This will mark the series first visit to the high banks of the I-55 Raceway in Pevely. Several competitors have experience there, mostly racing with the World of Outlaws. It proves to be an intense high-speed night!

MOWA visited West Burlington twice in 2011. In addition to Lasoski’s win in the opener, Terry McCarl took the season closing event in September. The facility is a great one for sprint cars, and the track always proves to be racy!

Pit gates open Saturday at Pevely at 4:00 p.m. with the stands opening at 5 p.m. Racing is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Grandstand admission is just $18 and those 12 and under are FREE. UMP DIRTcar Late Models, UMP DIRTcar Modifieds and UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman are also on the card.

Danny Lasoski will be signing autographs at 34 Raceway on Sunday from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Pitgates open at 4:30 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $18. Kids 10 and under are FREE. Hobby Stocks, 4-cylinders, Mod-Lites and Vintage Cars will also be on hand.
