Frankel, Harrison, Naeger & Pryor take victories at I-55 Raceway!

Pevely, MO (July 31st, 2010) A huge crowd was on hand for I-55 Raceway's Fan Appreciation Night and Kid's Nickel Race and they witnessed some great racing in all divisions. Rickey Frankel of Quincy, Illinois grabbed his second UMP DIRTcar Late Model victory of 2010 at I-55 Raceway. Scott Weber of Festus, Missouri grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and pulled out to a commanding lead early on. However as the laps began to wind down, Frankel and Danny Haynes began the process of reeling him in. The trio would have a spectacular battle for the lead during the final ten laps of the main event. Frankel would finally get the top spot and hold off Weber and Haynes for the final two laps. Haynes would get past Weber as well and pressure Frankel on the closing lap but couldn't make the pass and settled for second. Weber would finish third with Mark Voigt taking fourth and Kevin Cole fifth. Mike Harrison of Highland, Illinois would take over the top spot on lap three of the UMP DIRTcar Modified main event and simply dominate the race and would win by nearly a half-track over second place finisher Rusty Griffaw. This would be Harrison's 298th career victory. Paul Bauman, who led the first couple of laps, would finish in third spot. Bobby Bittle charged from the tenth starting spot to finish in the fourth spot. Ricky Horton completed the top five. The UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman division would provide another excellent race with a three-way battle for the lead for most of the event. Todd McGraw jumped out front and paced the field for most of the fifteen lap main event with Daryl Dodge, Eric Hogenmiller and Troy Naeger hot on his tail. However, with just four laps remaining, McGraw's machine would slow down the backstretch with mechanical problems and Dodge would be unable to avoid contact with him. Both cars would be done for the night turning over the lead to Hogenmiller. On the restart, Hogenmiller's lead would be short lived as Naeger made quick work of him to take over the top spot. Naeger would go on to take the win with Hogenmiller finishing second. Jeff Herzog would take third with Jimmy Cummins fourth. Scott Henseler rounded out the top five. Earl Pryor would get the lead from Dave Racer on lap six and hold him and Mike McGinnitey off in the closing laps to win his first ever feature event in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock class. Dave Racer crossed the line in second, but a post race inspection would disqualify him for having too low of air pressure in one of his rear tires. That would give Mike McGinnitey the second spot with Chuck Johnson taking third. Jeff Turner would be fourth and Josh Peppers fifth.
