Schlenk, Hancock, Harris & Murphy take wins at I-55 Raceway!

Pevely, MO (April 10th, 2010) A beautiful weekend in the St. Louis area brought out a huge crowd for the racing action on the 1/3 mile high banked dirt oval of I-55 Raceway. Twenty-one UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models checked in the gate to do battle on the high-banked oval. Making the long trek south from Jackson, Michigan was Rusty Schlenk as he looks for those valuable UMP DIRTcar National Points early in the year as he looks to battle for the Championship title in 2010. Schlenk didn't leave disappointed as he dominated the main event and claimed victory by almost a half track over second place finisher Mark Miner. Miner took the lead at the drop of the green flag, but Schlenk would take over the top spot on lap two and would never look back. Schlenk sliced through lapped traffic and drove away from the rest of the field to take the win. Miner would make a solid run to a second place finish. Jeff Beyers had his best finish ever at I-55 Raceway as he claimed the third spot. Dewayne Keifer would come home fourth and Rusty Griffaw completed the top five. Tim Hancock, the 2009 UMP DIRTcar Modified Track Champion at I-55 Raceway, is off to another great start in 2010 as he claimed his second consecutive main event in as many weeks. Hancock took the lead at the drop of the green flag from the outside front row and then held off his brother, Tommie Seets, Jr. for the final ten laps to earn the win. Seets tried high, low and every other possible route to move past Hancock but couldn't make the pass and would have to settle for a second place finish. Mark Miner completed a great night at I-55 Raceway with a third place finish in the Modified main event. His son, Conrad Miner would cross the line in fourth and Rusty Griffaw would round out the top five giving him two fifth place finishes on the night. Trey Harris is off to a strong start in 2010 in the UMP DIRTcar Sportsman division. Harris led all fifteen laps to pick up his second victory of 2010. Joe McCain would hold off several challengers to finish in the second spot. Gary Haynes charged through the field after starting sixteenth to earn the third spot. Marc Roberson would finish fourth with Jason Keller rounding out the top five. A wild night in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock main event. A big crash on the front stretch at the half way point would end the night for several competitors as they crash into the wall under the flag stand and others bounced off of them. All drivers were uninjured and that setup a big battle to the finish. Blake Jost took the lead from Tom Rorabacher with three laps remaining. But Jost would have his hands full as Justin McCallister, Brian Murphy and Rorabacher all battled with him for the top spot. On the final lap going into turn three, Murphy drove in hard underneath Jost and the two made contact all the way through turns three and four and then they rubbed door to door all the way down the front stretch with Murphy winning by a bumper. Jost would finish second with McCallister taking third. Rorabacher took fourth and Billy Lapaglia completed the top five.
