Manville, Horton, Herzog & McCallister take victories at I-55 Raceway!

Pevely, MO (May 16, 2009) Tim Manville had never won a UMP DIRTcar Super Late Model feature event before the start of the 2009 racing season, now he has two feature wins in the first five events at I-55 Raceway! Manville, from Highland, Illinois, took the lead at the drop of the green flag from his front row outside starting position and opened up a lead of several car lengths over second place Randy Korte who battled past Ed Dixon for the second spot. However, Korte would quickly reel in Manville as they reached lapped traffic. As the lapped traffic got heavier, Korte was able to move up to the middle of the track and move past Manville as he was slowed by a lapped car. Korte would then pull away to a lead of several car lengths through traffic but Manville as the lapped traffic varied, Manville was able to catch Korte again. Then, as the race began to wind down, Manville would make the exact same move that Korte made on him earlier in the event as he went to the middle of the track to move past Korte as he was held up by lapped traffic. A late caution would set the field for a one lap shootout with Manville out front and Korte in second. Manville would pull away on the restart and go on to victory with Korte finishing second. Dixon would take home a solid third place finish with Tim Ratajczyk taking fourth. Jeff Johns completed the top five. A reworked racetrack just before the UMP DIRTcar Modified main event provided a fast surface that ended with a three-way battle for the lead at the checkered flag. Ricky Horton led all twenty-laps of the main event but he was hounded every lap for the lead by Bobby Bittle. After an early lap two caution, the event went the final eighteen laps caution-free. In the closing laps Randy Korte moved in on Horton and Bittle and the three fought fiercly on the final lap as they battled lapped traffic. Horton was able to hold off the challengers and take the victory with Bittle crossing the line in second just ahead of Korte. Doug Wood would take the fourth spot as he held off the charging Ray Walsh who took fifth. Jeff Herzog jumped out front at the drop and the green flag to take control of the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman feature event. Herzog was able to open up and lead of about 3-4 car lengths over second place and maintained that lead for most of the event. However, a late race caution bunched up the field with three laps remaining forcing Herzog to hold off a serious challenge by Brad Paquet at the end to take the victory. Trey Harris would finish in third behind Paquet with Jason Keller taking fourth and Joe McCain fifth. Justin McCallister claimed his first ever UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock feature event at I-55 Raceway. McCallister had to hold off his team mate Mark Todd for most of the event and at the end it was Chris Fisher taking over second and applying the pressure on McCallister for the win. McCallister held on to take the win with Fisher taking second, Todd would finish third with Jacob Buechting finishing fourth. Jeff Turner rounded out the top five.
