Ken Schrader takes modified win at his track! Haynes, Harrison, Nations & Fisher also win!

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (June 9th, 2007) The United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) Modifieds had the fans on their feet most of the night with some thrilling two, three and even four wide racing throughout the night. It was I-55 Raceway co-owner and NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader that topped the forty car field as he just edged out Bobby Bittle and Bobby Martintoni for the win. In one of the best modified features in recent memories, Schrader, Bittle and Martintoni raced three wide for most of the final eight laps. Meanwhile, Mike Harrison, Ray Walsh, Scott Weber and Matt Mevert all staged a battle right behind the top three keeping seven cars running in a tight pack at the front. As they crossed the line, Schrader took the win just ahead of Bittle who was second, Martintoni third, Harrison fourth and Walsh fifth. There was also a makeup feature from an event that was rained shortened two weeks ago. This feature started on lap nine, where it was at when the rain came two weeks ago, and this event also provided a thrilling finish. Jerry Grither led all but the final two laps when modified ace Mike Harrison made his move and wrestled the lead from Grither. Harrison would go on to victory with Grither second. Martintoni would get the third spot with Doug Wood taking fourth and Mark Miner fifth. In the UMP Late Model division, it was Danny Haynes becoming the first driver to win two UMP Late Model feature events this season at I-55 Raceway. Haynes took the point from the drop of the green flag and led all twenty-five laps while being chased by pole-sitter Billy Faust. Faust stayed right on Haynes bumper, but couldn't get close enough to make a serious challenge for the top spot and would finish in the second spot. Mark Oller had a strong run and claimed the third position. Craig Smith brought his car home in the fourth spot and Ron McQuerry had one of his best nights ever at I-55 Raceway as he rounded out the top five. Kent Nations has been strong all season in the UMP Sportsman division, but has come up short every time in the main event until tonight. Nations held off a stellar field of cars including defending UMP Sportsman National Champion Troy Naeger for the win. Naeger gave chase the entire fifteen laps but was forced to settle for the second position. Gary Haynes, who won a feature earlier this season took the third spot. Troy Medley, who has won multiple features this season finished fourth and Tim Hollerbach completed the top five. Chris Fisher took the win in the UMP Pro 4 Stock division. Fisher held of Conrad Miner who came home second, Trey Harris was third with Jason Crump fourth and Stephen Crump fifth.
