Justin Allgaier, Troy Medley & Mother Nature take wins at I-55 Raceway!

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FORM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (May 26, 2007) I-55 Raceway was racing Mother Nature all night long as storms brewed all around the area. Mother Nature finally won out during the UMP Modified feature, but fortunately the UMP Late Model and UMP Sportsman features did get completed. Justin Allgaier of Riverton, IL made his first visit of the 2007 season to I-55 Raceway in his UMP Late Model and picked up the victory. Allgaier, who is currently 2nd in points in the ARCA Re/Max Series, jumped out to the lead from his front row pole starting position and pulled away in the early laps. However, Craig Smith moved to the top and began reeling him in and moved past Allgaier on lap seven for the lead. Smith opened up a small lead before the caution flew on lap twelve. On the restart, it didn't take long for Allgaier to work his way past Smith to regain the lead. Smith stayed glued to Allgaier's rear bumper for the remaining laps, but Allgaier proved too strong and became the sixth different winner in six events in the UMP Late Model division at I-55 Raceway this season. Smith took the second position with poing leader Bryan Collins taking third, Brian Dively crossed the line fourth and Mark Oller completed the top five. Allgaier also raced in a UMP Modified for the first time ever and was very impressive in the Ken Schrader owned Red Baron's Pizza machine. He finished second in his heat race to another young modified driver Matt Goulden. The UMP Modified feature reached lap nine before the rain ended the event. Jerry Grither was leading at the time after he had moved past early leader Doug Wood who was in second when the caution flew and Mike Harrison was third. Troy Medley put on a strong performance as he swept the night's events in the UMP Sportsman division. Medley led all fifteen laps of the main event in his dominating performance. Danny Ems had his best run ever in his rookie season in the UMP Sportman division as he took the second position. Kent Nations claimed the third spot with Jeff Herzog fourth and Jason Keller took the fifth spot.
