PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (May 27, 2006) Randy Korte's added another outing to his outstanding 2006 racing season as he topped a stellar field of UMP Late Models at I-55 Raceway. Korte started on the outside of the front row along side pole sitter Brian Shirley. Shirley took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led till the first caution on lap six. On the restart, Korte would need just one lap to move past Shirley and from there Korte took command of the event and led till the end. Matt Taylor and Jimmy Owens would lock horns and battle it out for the third spot for most of the twenty-five laps of the main event as well. Owens began to reel in Shirley towards the end but Owens would settle for a third place finish with Matt Taylor taking fourth. Mike Marlar came from the twelvth starting position to complete the top five. I-55 Raceway track point leader Tim Ratajczyk experienced motor problems in hotlaps and was unable start any of the night's events. Bobby Bittle is also off to a strong start to the 2006 season and he picked up yet another win in the UMP Modified division. Bittle started on the outside of the front row and took the lead at the drop of the green flag. Pole sitter Jerry Grither was able to pressure Bittle early on the event, but Bittle would pull away in the closing laps and roll into victory lane. Grither held off Ray Walsh throughout the event and crossed the line in second. Marty Smith, Jr. would follow Walsh across the line and take fourth. Mark Miner found a fast line late in the event and picked off ten positions in the final eight laps to claim the fifth position. Troy Naeger took home the win in the UMP Sportsman division. Naeger led from flag to flag as Mike Nicholson tried to find his way around him for the lead. Nicholson would take the second spot with Chuck Adams claiming third. Troy Medley picked up the fourth spot and Jason Keller completed the top five. Conrad Miner claimed the AARA Pro 4 Stock main event. Miner appeared to be going to settle for a third place finish until the first and second place cars got together in turn four on the final lap. Jeff Price led all the way until Mike McMullin slipped by with just three laps remaining. Price fought back on the final lap and made contact with McMullin in turn four getting both cars sideways. Miner slipped past the two on the low side and crossed the line for the win. Chris Fisher also got by and took the second position. McMullin recovered and came home third. Jason Crump took fourth and Trey Harris fifth. Price finally got back on track and came home sixth.
