PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (May 20, 2006) Randy Korte continued his incredible start to the 2006 racing season by out running an impressive field of UMP Late Models at I-55 Raceway. Korte took command of the main event on the opening lap and led all twenty-five laps. Korte's only challenge for the lead came from Matt Taylor as he worked lapped traffic. With the event going the entire twenty-five laps without a caution period to slow the pace down, Korte found himself working lapped traffic beginning on lap six all the way till the end of the event. Korte was able to work the slower traffic flawlessly and added another victory to his impressive 2006 racing season. Taylor claimed the second position. I-55 Raceway point leader Tim Ratajczyk had yet another strong showing as he moved up to third early on in the main event and then chased Korte and Taylor till the end but settled for the third position. Brian Collins brought his machine home in the fourth position and Danny Haynes edged out Ed Dixon at the line to claim the fifth spot. Mike Harrison made his third visit of the young 2006 racing season to I-55 Raceway and continued his perfect streak as he claimed his third win at the track in the UMP Modified class. Harrison jumped out front on the opening lap and never looked back. The battle raged on behind him for the second position. Eric Mabery, Bobby Bittle and Mark Miner fought it out for second as the three swapped that position around several times over the final ten laps. Bittle laid claim to the position and crossed the finish line in second. Mabery's continued his great start to the year as he claimed the third position. Miner took the fourth spot as Tim Hill gave him all he wanted in the final few laps. Hill couldn't make the pass for the fourth spot and crossed the line fifth. Bittle's second place finish earned him the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealer's Hard Charger Award. Bittle started in the ninth starting position and improved his finishing position over his starting position the most of any driver in the event. Troy Naeger won his second straight UMP Sportsman main event. Naeger pulled away to an easy win as the event went the final fourteen laps without a caution. Paul Bauman wrestled the second position away from Ronnie Bader on lap ten but couldn't chase down Naeger. Mike Nicholson also slipped past Bader in the closing laps and he claimed the third position. Troy Medley crossed the line behind Bader to round out the top five. Naeger also claimed the G&M Steel Dash for Cash earlier in the night. Tray Harris took the AARA Pro 4 Stock feature event win. Harris held off Mike McMullin who came across the line second. Jason Crump was third with Chris Fisher fourth and Conrad Miner fifth. Brian Wolfmeier held off the McClintock gang and earned the win in the Vintage Modified division. Marc McClintock took the second position and Dustin McClintock crossed the line in third.
