CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (May 6, 2006) I-55 Raceway got the night started with a makeup feature event for the UMP Late Models that was cancelled on April 22nd because of rain. Mark Voigt started on the pole for this event and led all twenty-five laps. Voigt looked strong throughout this event. Mark Oller and Tim Ratajczyk challenged Voigt for the lead each time Voigt got into slower lapped traffic, but Voigt would pull away each time he got clear. Oller took the second position and Ratajcyzk crossed the line in third. Ed Dixon claimed the fourth spot and Dave Jumper rounded out the top five. The second UMP Late Model feature event saw a great battle for the lead. Matt Taylor led the first twelve laps of the event, but Bryan Collins used the low side to move past Taylor on lap thirteen. Two late caution flag made for an especially tight finish at the end. The final restart came with just one lap remaining and Collins had trouble negotiating turns one and two as his car didn't want to turn. Taylor got underneath him coming out of turn two as they dragged race side-by-side down the backstretch. Collins drove into turn three very hard and held on to beat Taylor out of turn four and across the finish line. Ed Dixon picked up the third position with Tim Ratajczyk finishing fourth and Mark Oller completing the top five. Bobby Bittle continued his strong season at I-55 Raceway as he completed another sweep in the UMP Modified division. Jerry Grither battled with Bittle lap after lap but just could never quiet get along side Bittle for the lead and settled for the second position. The tough field of modifieds provided some great action. The battle for the top ten positions saw cars continously swapping positions. Ray Wagner edged out Mark Miner for the third position. Eric Mabery crossed the line behind Miner as he claimed the fifth spot. Chuck Adams once again fought off Troy Naeger to earn the victory in the UMP/AARA Sportsman division. Adams led all fifteen laps but had Naeger glued to his bumper for the entire distance. Mike Nicholson, Steve Maisel and Kent Nations all battled relentlessly for the third spot with Nicholson holding on to it at the end. Maisel was fourth and Nations fifth. Trey Harris claimed another win in the AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Conrad Miner made his first appearance of 2006 in the four cylinder class and battled with Harris early on for the lead, but Harris pulled away in the closing laps to take the win. Mike McMullin took the third position with Darrell Miller and Chris Fisher rounding out the top five.
