Pevely, MO (September 10, 2005) Brian Shirley of Chatham, IL rolled to his fourth UMP Late Model main event win of the 2005 racing season at I-55 Raceway. Shirley took off from his front row pole starting position and pulled away from the pack early in the event. A caution on lap eight tightened up the field and set the stage for a great battle for the top spot as Billy Faust moved in and battled with Shirley. Faust stayed right on Shirley's bumper as the two worked lapped traffic. Both preferred the high side as they rode the cushion around the outside wall. However, disaster struck for Faust on lap eighteen as he jumped the cushion in turn four and his car climbed the outside wall with the right side tires causing his car to flip over onto it's left side and then onto it's roof and back over to it's wheels. Faust was uninjured but was done for the night. Ed Dixon reclaimed the second position on the restart but couldn't mount a challenge of Shirley. Shirley cruised to victory and Dixon's car broke on the final lap allowing Tim Ratajczyk to steal the second position. Dixon nursed his car across the line in the third spot with Brian Wolfmeier taking the fourth position and Jeff Johns rounding out the top five. Dixon's third place finish allowed him to edge out Ratajczyk for the 2005 Season Championship. Rusty Griffaw outdueled Doug Wood to earn the victory in the UMP Modified division. Wood led the early laps of the main event before Griffaw worked his way past on the high side. Wood didn't go down easy and he worked the low side of Griffaw lap after lap as the two raced much of the race side by side. Griffaw would prevail and earn the win, Tom Ratajczyk followed Wood across the line in the third position with Scott Weber taking fourth and Bobby Bittle claimed the fifth position. Brian Wolfmeier secured the 2005 Season Championships in the UMP Modified division at I-55 Raceway. Scott Stuppy claimed the AARA Sportsman main event. Stuppy led wire-to-wire but Paul Bauman and Troy Medley made it a three-way horse race. Bauman finished in the second position and always picked up the 2005 I-55 Raceway Sportsman Season Championship. Chuck Adams was fourth as he followed Medley across the line. Troy Naeger rounded out the top five. Trey Harris won his first ever AARA Pro 4 Stock main event. Harris led the entire distance. Conrad Miner claimed the second position with Mike McMullin third. McMullin's third place finished earned him the 2005 I-55 Raceway Pro 4 Stock Season Championship.
