Pevely, MO (August 3, 2005) The M&M Night of Stars at I-55 Raceway was another huge success. A huge crowd was on hand to meet the NASCAR stars and to watch the racing action. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Martin Truex, Jr., Kenny Wallace, Carl Edwards, Casey Mears, Bobby Hamilton, Sr., Jimmy Spencer, Dave Blaney and Ken Schrader all signed autographs for about two hours and then participated in a match race in UMP Modifieds around the 1/3 mile high banked dirt oval. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. worked as the flagman for the special race and Jimmy Spencer made contact with the outside wall during the practice session and was unable to run the race due to damage to his car. The match race was run in two segments and Carl Edwards powered the Dirt Works Race Cars built machine normally driven by Gary Clark to victory in the first segment. The second segment was won by Kenny Wallace in his familiar Impressive Race Cars Stacker2 car. The regular scheduled racing was headlined by the UMP Late Models and Winged Sprint Cars. Both classes featured side by side racing for the lead with the winner of each event not being decided until the final lap. In the UMP Late Model division, Billy Faust and Tim Ratajczyk raced side by side for most of the twenty-five laps. Faust racing around the very top of the track while Ratajczyk hugged the very bottom of the track. They swapped the lead lap after lap but it was Billy Faust crossing the line first at the checkered flag. Ratajczyk took the second spot. Randy Korte drove through the field after starting sixteenth to a third place finish. Matt Taylor took the fourth spot and Billy Laycock claimed the fifth position. Tommy Worley, Jr. made the pass for the win coming off of turn four to claim the victory in the Winged Sprint Car division. Tim Montgomery had led the first twenty-four laps of the main event before Worley slipped by on the low side on the final lap. Jimmy Hurley took third with Robbie Standridge fourth and Bryan Matthews rounded out the top five.
