June 4, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (June 5, 2005) Jimmy Mars of Elk Mound, WI claimed the second leg of the UMP Tri-Track Challenge and earned the $10,000 top prize. Mars started on the outside of the front row and worked his way past pole sitter Clay Baumann on lap two. Mars battled the entire forty laps with Darren Miller. Miller was able to pull along side Mars on many occassions and actually made the pass for the lead on lap twenty-seven, but the yellow flag flew on that same lap and Mars reassumed the lead as they reverted to the previous lap's running order for the restart. Mars held on for the win with Miller a very close second. Shannon Babb made it the three way battle for the lead during the second half of the race as he worked his way up from the seventh starting position to join the battle. Babb was forced to settle for the third position as he couldn't work his way around Miller. Jeep VanWormer made a late race charge to the front from the ninth starting position but would run out of time and would cross the line in the fourth position. Billy Faust completed the top five. Rusty Griffaw claimed the UMP Modified victory. Griffaw ran in the second position for most of the event before he made the pass on Brian Worley on lap sixteen and went on to claim the win. Worley held on to take the second spot. The battle for third through fifteenth saw cars race three and four wide with positions being swapped in every turn and down each straight away. Brian Wolfmeier crossed the line in third, with Scott Weber taking fourth and Doug Wood finishing fifth. Mike Nicholson claimed the AARA Sportsman main event for the second week in a row. Nicholson led all fifteen laps but had to hold off a late race challenge by Scott Stuppy. Stuppy was able to get the nose along side Nicholson on the final lap but came up short at the line and finished second. Troy Naeger took his Dodge Charger to a third place finish while Chuck Adams came home fourth and Paul Bauman took fifth. Tom Smallwood claimed the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers Hard Charger Award as he passed the most cars in the main event.
