Pevely, MO (September 4, 2004) Season Championship night brought out a full field of cars in all divisions at I-55 Raceway. In the U.M.P. (United Midwestern Promoters) Late Model division, it was Ed Dixon taking the win and securing the championship. Danny Haynes jumped out to the early lead from the pole position. Haynes led the first five laps before he jumped over the cushion and got into the wall in turn two. Haynes fell back to fifth before he could recover as Brian Wolfmeier assumed the lead. Wolfmeier would only lead for a couple of laps before Dixon would move past on the high side. Wolfmeier continued to battle back and challenge Dixon throughout the event. But he also had to contend with Tim Ratajczyk for the second position. A late caution with just two laps remaining would give Wolfmeier and Ratajczyk another shot at Dixon, but it wasn't to be as Dixon drove on to victory. Wolfmeier took second with Ratajczyk third. Denny Woodworth moved past two cars in the final two laps to take fourth. Mark Oller took home the fifth spot. In the U.M.P. Modified division, Scott Weber took the lead at the drop of the green as he was looking for the sweep. Serious trouble arose for Weber on a lap six restart when something broke in the front end of his car, which sent him into the turn one wall and ended his night. Ray Wagner took over the lead and led for three laps before Brent Mullins moved past him. Mullins held off the late race challenges of Brian Wolfmeier and Eric Mabery to take the win. Wolfmeier was second, Mabery third, Wagner fourth and Rich Whaley rounded out the top five. Bobby Bittle wrapped up the championship in the U.M.P. Modified division, but motor problems prevented him from starting the main event. The points battle in the A.A.R.A. Sportsman division will have to wait one more week before it is decided. Ricky Horton came in to tonight's action with a thirty-seven point lead over Paul Belken. Belken led all fifteen laps to take the win in the Sportsman main event. Horton finished third behind Scott Stuppy who is currently third in the points. Belken's win tightened up the points chase and the champion will be decided next weekend during the final points event at I-55 Raceway. Paul Bauman and Bob Schmidt rounded out the top five in the feature. Troy Medley earned the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers Hard Charger Award. Medley improved his finishing position by fourteen spots from where he started. Medley earns the $200 bonus for being the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers Hard Charger. Pat Brewer took the win in the A.A.R.A. Pro 4 Stock division. Brewer has a nice lead in the point standings, but he doesn't quiet have it locked up yet and will have to wait till next weekend to secure the championship. Conrad Miner followed Brewer across the line to take second and Don Hoffman took third. U.M.P.
