Pevely, MO (May 22, 2004) Ed Dixon of Washington, MO claimed his 556th career feature win as he led all twenty-five laps enroute to the victory in the U.M.P. Late Model division. Dixon took the lead on the opening lap from his outside front row starting position as he out-paced pole-sitter Justin Allgaier into turn one on the opening lap. Allgaier apparently missed the setup early on and faded all the way to the tenth position when the first and only caution flew on lap three when Brent Kreke slowed to a stop on the back-stretch. On the restart, Dixon once again assumed command of the lead as Mark Voigt and Kevin Gundaker battled relentlessly for the second spot. Tim Ratajczyk, Kyle Steffens, Steve Shive and Allgaier battled lap after lap for the fourth spot. Dixon went on to claim the win, Gundaker edged out Mark Voigt for second. Allgaier worked his way back through the field and took the fourth spot. Ratajczyk came home fifth. Mark Oller claimed the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers Hard Charger Award with his tenth place finish. Oller started shotgun on the field after an incident in hotlaps forced him to miss his qualifying heat. The Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers Hard Charger Award is an additional $200 and is awarded to the driver who improves their finishing position over their starting position the most. The U.M.P. Modified feature provided a thrilling race as Scott Weber took the early lead, only to see Mark Miner take it away on lap five. Bobby Bittle moved in and made it a three car battle for the lead. As the race went the final fifteen laps without a caution, Weber re-took the lead with four laps remaining and held off Miner and Bittle to take the win. Brian Wolfmeier edged out Dennis Richards and took the fourth spot with Richards fifth. Scott Weber picked up an additional $100 for winning the G&M Steel Dash for Cash. The A.A.R.A. Sportsman division provided the fans with a great three-way battle for the lead over the entire distance of the event. Ricky Horton, Paul Belken and Scott Stuppy put on a classic showdown as they fought it out over the fifteen lap event. It was Horton picking up the win over Belken and Stuppy settled for a close third. Bob Schmidt and Troy Naeger fought it out for fourth with Schmidt getting the spot at the finish. Dave Heinrichs drove his Dodge Neon to victory in the A.A.R.A. Pro 4 Stock division. Heirichs & Pat Brewer raced side-by-side the final three laps of the feature event with Henrichs getting the win. Homer Mooney was third, Larry Kirkpatrick fourth and Roger Ernst fifth. Kevin Gundaker pulled double-duty as he took the win in the Vintage Modified special event. Gundaker came from the twelfth starting position and took the lead with just three laps remaining. Carl Amos took second on the final lap and Mark Miner was third. Bob Fink, who led the first twelve laps of the event ended up fourth and Bob Miner was fifth. U.M.P.
