Dixon, Whaley & Belken roll to victory! Pevely, MO (June 15, 2002) Washington, MO's Ed Dixon put on a dominating performance in the UMP Late Model division. Dixon took off from his front row starting spot and never looked back. Mark Oller was able to keep the pressure on Dixon during the early laps of the race, but on lap twelve, Tom Fitzgerald spun in front of the leaders and collected Oller, eliminating both cars from the event. Tim Ratajczyk took over second spot but was never able to challenge Dixon for the lead. Jason Frankel moved up late in the race to battle Ratajczyk for second, but couldn't get the position away from Ratajczyk. Mark Miner, a former Georgia late model driver, drove Ken Schrader's #99 Federated Auto Parts car to a fourth place finish. It was Miner's first time in over three years to race a late model. Dave Jumper stayed glued to the back of Miner to finish fifth. Rich Whaley grabbed his third UMP Modified victory of the season. Whaley held off two-time defending track champion Scott Weber for the win. The two flew around the top side of the track for the entire event that went all twenty laps without a caution. Dean Hoffman challenged the two earlier using the bottom of the track, but had to move to the top as well to hold off fourth place finisher Tom Ratajczyk. Leroy Haney came all the way from the twelfth starting spot to finish fifth. Paul Belken, Jr. continues to be a dominant force in the AARA Sportsman division. Belken wrestled the lead away from Ricky Horton on the third lap and went on to win the event handily. Horton and Scott Stuppy battled most of the remaining laps for second with Horton holding on to the position. Dave Jenkins and Mark Blanke also battled most of the event for fourth with Jenkins claiming the spot. This feature also went the entire distance without a caution.
