Jumper leaps into victory lane! Scott Weber rockets into the modified winner circle! PEVELY, MO (May 26, 2001) Dave Jumper started on the front row pole and jumped out front and led all 25 laps to grab the victory in the UMP Late Model feature. It was Jumper's first ever win in a late model and he became the fourth different winner this season in the UMP Late Model division at I-55 Raceway. Mark Oller worked his way up through traffic early and battled briefly with Jumper but had to settle for second. Tim Ratajczyk was third and Jason Frankel was first to the line in a four-car battle for fourth. Matt Taylor completed the top five. Scott Weber rocketed his way around the top of the track and claimed his second straight UMP Modified feature win. Weber held off an early challenge from Rich Whaley but pulled away in the closing laps. Whaley had his best showing of the season and finished second. Seven cars battled three and four wide on the last lap for third, with Ray Wagner edging out Jerry Grither for spot and Tom Ratajczyk rounded out the top five. Paul Belken was shooting for his sixth feature win of the season in the Sportsman division, but Troy Naeger decided enough was enough. Naeger and Belken started side by side on the front row with Naeger jumping out to the early lead. On lap five, Belken moved past Naeger on the high side to take the lead. As each lap went by, Belken would pull ahead down the straight-aways, but Naeger would pull along side him in the turns. Finally, on the final lap, Naeger was able to move back past Belken and picked up the victory. Mark Blanke, Brian Worley and Chris Sale completed the top five.
