PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (July 22, 2006) The UMP Late Model division provided the fans with one of the most exciting feature events of the 2006 season at I-55 Raceway. The opening lap got off to a rough start as Brent Kreke got upside down in turn three and his car ended up it's roof and on top of Mark Hunter's car. Kreke and Hunter were both okay and Hunter was able to restart the main event. Once the green flag fell again, five drivers battled for the lead for the entire twenty-five laps of the main event. Brian Shirley took the lead on the opening lap from the pole position but Ed Dixon and Steve Sheppard battled nearly three wide on the opening lap. Some contact on the opening lap between Dixon and Sheppard left Dixon with a flat tire which Dixon was able to get fixed …

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO—July 8, 2006-by: Tony Veneziano, WoO Sprint Series PR Director Once in a while a good luck charm is needed to turn the fortunes around for a driver or team. Brooke Tatnell had already won two races this season, but knew he easily could have had a half dozen or more victories if luck was on their side. Always looking to get a step up on the competition, and to stand out in a crowd, the crew of the Race Outfitters/Castrol Eagle, led by Troy Renfro, brought out their “retro” car for the second time this season on Saturday night at I-55 Raceway, looking for a spark. The white car with the distinctive red stripes down the middle of the top and front-wings, turned many heads in the pit area, then showed on the track that it was not only sharp looking, …

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY I-55 Raceway Pevely, MO. by: Terry Young Shannon Babb, of Mowequa, Illinois once again visited victory lane to take home the $10,000.00 winners share at Ken Schrader and Ray Marler's I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO. in the 13th outing of the 2006 UMP Summer Nationals. While many of the naysayers have said how different the outcome would be if only Don O'Neal and Brian Birkhofer etc. were following the Summer National grind, they were proven wrong tonight as both of those drivers and others were among the 41 cars entered for tonights action. Babb now sits comfortably atop the UMP Summer Nationals point standings with 8 victories in the first 13 events of this years tour, and his 4th consecutive win. The Midwestrn Illinois standout has also topped $65,000.00 in the bakers dozen of events thus far. It appeared that perhaps Birkhofer was …

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (June 10, 2006) Mother Nature provided the fireworks as lightning lit up the sky all around I-55 Raceway throughout the night as big thunderstorms rolled through the metro St. Louis area all evening. But the storms stayed just north of the speedway as heavy rains were reported as close as Arnold, MO (approximately 10 miles north). It never even sprinkled at the track and the entire program was completed. Brian Collins of Elsberry, MO won his second UMP Late Model main event of the season at I-55 Raceway. Collins slipped past early leader Steve Sheppard on lap six when Sheppard's car jumped the cushion in turn two and made slight contact with the outside retaining wall. Collins would lead the rest of the way as Sheppard gave chase. Sheppard could draw up close to Collins at times, but Collins worked the …

PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (June 3, 2006) Mother Nature did her best to put a damper on the Tri-Track Challenge at I-55 Raceway, as persistant showers interupted qualifying three separate times. The final shower turned into a downpour that lasted 20 minutes and caused a hour and half delay as track crews reworked the track. The track crews did an excellent job getting the track back in shape as it was smooth and very fast the rest of the night. Thirty-six UMP Late Models signed in to compete for the $10,000 to win Tri-Track Challenge event at I-55 Raceway. Highland, IL's Randy Korte led all qualifiers as he set fast time with a lap of 13.287 second. Billy Moyer claimed the first qualifying heat race with Tim Ratajczyk, Brian Shirley and Ed Dixon also transferring to the main event from the first heat. The second heat went to …

Korte took command of the main event on the opening lap and led all twenty-five laps. Korte's only challenge for the lead came from Matt Taylor as he worked lapped traffic. With the event going the entire twenty-five laps without a caution period to slow the pace down, Korte found himself working lapped traffic beginning on lap six all the way till the end of the event. Korte was able to work the slower traffic flawlessly and added another victory to his impressive 2006 racing season. Taylor claimed the second position. I-55 Raceway point leader Tim Ratajczyk had yet another strong showing as he moved up to third early on in the main event and then chased …
