Pevely, MO (May 17, 2003) Rain was all around the area most of the day and evening, bringing some new faces to the I-55 Raceway from other tracks that had been rained out. Only a light mist would fall on occasion allowing I-55 Raceway to get their entire show in and keeping the racetrack very fast.

In the U.M.P. Late Model division, Mark Oller powered his way to victory for the first time this season. Oller bolted out to the lead on the opening lap from the pole position and soon faced the challenges of Jim Durbin. Durbin pulled past Oller on the second lap, however the caution flew as Kevin Gundaker hit the wall on the backstretch and came to rest in turn three. On the restart, Durbin again challenged Oller for the lead but couldn't get past. Kyle Steffens used the high side to battle with Oller and Durbin for the lead. Ed Dixon moved up from the ninth starting spot into fourth place and appeared to ready to challenge the leaders when he suffered mechanical problems and brought out the second caution. Meanwhile other cars were working their way up from deep in the field. Tim Ratajczyk, Danny Haynes and Jeremy Williams were dicing through the field making their way to the front. The caution soon flew again as Steffens suffered mechanical problems, then while still under caution, Durbin also pulled off the track with problems. That moved Tim Ratajczyk and Danny Haynes up to battle with Oller for the lead. But Oller held off their challenges for the lead and took the win. Ratajczyk was second, Haynes third, Jeremy Williams fourth and Paul Belken, Jr. fifth.

In the U.M.P. Modified division, Scott Weber moved past Leon Rakers on the third lap of the main event and pulled away to a commanding lead. Just as Weber appeared to be on his way to a convincing victory, he tangled with a lapped car sending Weber spinning in turn three. The contact broke something on the front end of Weber's car which ended his night. That left Brian Wolfmeier, Leon Rakers and Bobby Bittle to battle for the lead. Wolfmeier would hold off all challenges and take the win over Bittle. Rakers was a close third, Ray Walsh fourth and Jim Shereck fifth.

Todd McGraw led all fifteen laps of the Sportsman feature and took the win over second place finisher Ed Lowry. Paul Bauman, Bob Prince and Darren Holland rounded out the top five. The race was marred by a ten car crash on the second lap which eliminated many cars.

Dave Heinrichs completed the sweep in the Wannabee division.
