PEVELY, MO (July 14, 2001) A packed house greeted the Pennzoil World of Outlaws on their second visit this season to I-55 Raceway. Then the Outlaws treated the fans to a great race and a thrilling finish. Joey Saldana of Brownsburg, IN and Steve Kinser of Bloomington, IN started on the front row of the A-Main. Kinser jumped out to the early lead. On lap twelve, Saldana took the lead away from Kinser by taking advantage of lapped traffic. Kinser was able to wrestle the lead back from Saldana on lap twenty-one as they battled through more lapped traffic. Saldana’s luck ran out on the thirty-third lap, as flat tire would end his hope for victory. That allowed Stevie Smith of New Oxford, PA to move into second place. Smith stayed right on Kinser’s bumper until the last lap, when Smith dove under Kinser entering turn 3, forcing Kinser up …

Ed Dixon wins #499 at I-55! PEVELY, MO (July 7, 2001) Ed Dixon of Washington, MO claimed his 499th career feature win at I-55 Raceway. Dixon got the jump on the start of the race from the outside front row, and never looked back, leading all 25 Laps. He was able to hold off early challenges from Steve Shive and a late race challenge from points leader Mark Oller. It was Dixon’s third UMP Late Model feature win this season at I-55 Raceway. Oller came from his eleventh place starting spot to finish second. Shive was third and Jason Frankel and Tim Ratajczyk rounded out the top five. Ray Walsh picked up his first win of the season at I-55 Raceway in the UMP Modified division. Walsh dominated the event by leading all twenty laps. Six different drivers battled for second place. Moyer Dominates I-55 Summer Nationals! PEVELY, MO (June 30, 2001) Billy Moyer picked up his fourth UMP Summer Nationals win in 2001 by dominating the competition at I-55 Raceway. Moyer and Ed Dixon started on the front row and Dixon jumped out to the early lead. Dixon led until lap seven, and then Moyer used the high side of the track to drive past Dixon. Moyer pulled away and opened up large lead. Bill Frye worked his way through traffic from his seventh starting position and moved into second. Frye was unable to make a serious challenge to Moyer and settled for a second place finish. The biggest battle on the racetrack was for third position. Shannon Babb, Brian Birkhofer, Ed Dixon and Don O’Neal battled two and three wide through lapped traffic. Shannon Babb won the battle for third. Brian Birkhofer passed Dixon and O’Neal on the final lap …
