Oller wins 'Nationals' sneak preview at I-55 by Richard Stoff PEVELY, MO. (August 26, 2000) — Mark Oller pulled alongside Donnie Tudor as the two raced under the white flag and edged ahead to win Saturday's UMP Late Model feature in a sneak preview of the upcoming I-55 Pepsi Nationals. With rainouts at nearby Highland and Mt. Vernon speedways in Illinois, I-55 ended up with a number of drivers who normally race at those tracks. As a result, the 125-car field at Pevely included 11 of the top 20 drivers in the national UMP Late Model points standings. The 18th annual I-55 Pepsi Nationals, which annually attracts many of the top drivers in the Midwest, will be held Sept. 15-16. Oller was the fifth leader in the 25-lap late model final. Dixon, Wagner and Belken Lead the Way at I-55 Pevely, Mo. (August 14) — Ed Dixon led all 25 laps of a late model feature that went nearly caution-free at I-55 Raceway Saturday. He took the lead on the first lap and didn't slow down until a spin brought out a caution flag on the 23rd lap. The race was slowed for another spin on the 24th lap and ended in a bumper-car derby as the second- through fourth-place cars hit the finish line just as two lapped cars got tangled up to block the front straight. Steve Shive plowed through the jam to finish second. Ed Bauman and Mark Faust were third and fourth. Faust was a heat and dash winner. Clay Bauman and Steve Karnes won the other heats. Leroy Haney led a snarling swarm of modifieds for the first 16 laps of his feature before coasting to …

Dixon, Weber and Worley Score at I-55 PEVELY, MO. (June 10) — Ed Dixon won a wild UMP Late Model feature at I-55 Raceway after race-long leader Tim Ratajczyk bumped a slower car and started to spin in front of traffic, bringing out a caution that sent him to the rear of the field. After taking the white flag, Ratajczyk nipped the back of a lapped car and started to spin, collecting Dixon. The two cars skidded sideways and slowed in front of traffic. Both cars continued moving and regained speed but only after the caution had waved due to the heavy traffic behind the two. Officials ruled that the caution had been caused by Ratajczyk and moved him to the rear of the field on the restart, leaving Dixon, the nose of his car knocked sideways, at the front of the field. Dixon held off Ed Bauman and Mark …
