Terry English MORE PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (July 23, 2005) I-55 Raceway along with the great sponsors Shop N' Save, WIL 92.3 FM, Prairie Farms, Nabisco, Midwest Diary Association, Arm & Hammer and Freschetta Pizza put on a great event to help raise money for Special Olympics. A $5,000 payday was on the line for the winner of the UMP Late Model event. Terry English of Benton, KY took home the big payday as he held off Tim Ratajczyk early and then fought off the challenges of Kevin Weaver late in the event. As the leaders battled through lapped traffic, Weaver, who started on the outside of the third row, was able to pull even with English on several occassions, but each time English was able to power back into the lead. Kemenah Earns His First World of Outlaws Sprint Series Victory Pevely, MO — July 9, 2005 — By Chris Dolack, World of Outlaws Senior Writer Car after car tried to knock down the wall in Turns 1 and 2 Saturday night at I-55 Raceway, but the wall took a defiant stand and threw every car back onto the track, some upright and some not. Chad Kemenah and Donny Schatz didn’t chance it. Instead, they set up their cars to work on the bottom of the high-banked 1/3-mile oval. While Shane Stewart started on the pole and powered his way along the cushion, which in some spots was the concrete fence, Kemenah and Schatz tip-toed along the very bottom and found themselves finishing first and second. July 2, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (July 2, 2005) Randy Korte of Highland, IL put on a dominating performance as he claimed the $10,000 first place prize by winning the UMP Summer Nationals at I-55 Raceway. Korte set fast time during qualifying and then won the dash to earn the pole position for the main event. Korte took the lead at the drop of the green flag and set the pace for all forty laps. Rodney Melvin challenged Korte for the lead early but had his hands full with Shannon Babb for most of the event. Babb, who started in the sixth position, quickly moved into the third spot but couldn't find his way past Melvin and rode to a third place finish behind Korte and Melvin. Jeep VanWormer took the fourth spot with Brian Birkhofer finishing fifth. Bobby Bittle of Belleville, IL roared to victory in the UMP Modified division. Bittle battled with …

June 25, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (June 25, 2005) Tim Ratajczyk of Columbia, IL grabbed his first UMP Late Model victory of the 2005 season at I-55 Raceway. Ratajczyk was able to completely sweep the action as he won his qualifying heat, the dash and the main event. Ratajczyk paced all twenty-five laps of the main event as held off two other I-55 Raceway veterans to earn the win. Mark Oller chased Ratajczyk around the bottom of the track for all twenty-five laps but could never make a serious challenge on Ratajczyk for the lead and settled for the second spot. Ed Dixon roared around the top of the track for most of the event, banging off the cushion on the top as he crossed the line in third. Billy Faust, who was leading the track points in the UMP Late Model division coming into tonight by just two points over Dixon, took the …

June 18, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (June 18, 2005) Another great field of racecars turned out and provided the fans with an exciting night of racing at I-55 Raceway. Mark Voigt seemed to be on a mission in the United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) Late Model division. Voigt was simply dominating as he completed a clean sweep by winning his qualifying heat, the dash and the main event. Voigt started on the front row pole for the main event and took off at the drop of the green flag and opened up over a full straight away lead over the second place car of Ed Dixon before the first caution came on lap eighteen. As the green flag dropped for the restart, Voigt pulled away again till a caution came out a couple of laps later when Dixon's motor expired and Mark Oller spun to avoid the slowing car of Dixon. June 15, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (June 15, 2005) A large crowd and great field of cars turned out for the Wednesday night special event that featured special guest Mark Martin in his "Salute to You Tour". Mark Martin and Ken Schrader signed autographs for two hours before the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers racing action got underway. Thirty-eight United Midwestern Promoters (U.M.P.) Late Models checked in through the gate to compete in the UMP Challenge of Champions event. Twenty-three year old Brian Shirley of Chatham, IL dominated the late model event as he set fast time, won the qualifying dash and led all thirty laps of the main event. Shirley held off the challenges of Bryan Collins early on in the event. Collins was able to get the nose of his car inside of Shirley on several occassions but was unable to complete the pass at anytime. Randy Korte moved past Collins immediately after a …

June 4, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (June 5, 2005) Jimmy Mars of Elk Mound, WI claimed the second leg of the UMP Tri-Track Challenge and earned the $10,000 top prize. Mars started on the outside of the front row and worked his way past pole sitter Clay Baumann on lap two. Mars battled the entire forty laps with Darren Miller. Miller was able to pull along side Mars on many occassions and actually made the pass for the lead on lap twenty-seven, but the yellow flag flew on that same lap and Mars reassumed the lead as they reverted to the previous lap's running order for the restart. Mars held on for the win with Miller a very close second. Shannon Babb made it the three way battle for the lead during the second half of the race as he worked his way up from the seventh starting position to join the battle. Babb …

May 28, 2005 Results

PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (May 28, 2005) Brian Shirley captured the UMP Late Model victory in his first visit of 2005 to I-55 Raceway. It appeared that pole sitter Tim Ratajczyk was well on his way to victory as he led the first 21 laps of the main event and had a comfortable lead until he tangled with the lapped car of Nick Bauman. Ratajczyk's car ended up on top of Bauman's car as they got together in turn four as Ratajczyk attempted the pass on the low side. Ratajczyk was able to restart after the incident, but had to go to the rear of the field on the restart. Bauman was treated for what appeared to be a shoulder injury in the incident. Shirley was able to power his way to the win after the restart. Jeff Johns took the second position, while Justin Allgaier claimed third. …

May 21, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (May 21, 2005) Dave Jumper rolls to victory in the UMP Late Model division as he avoided two major crashes that eliminated many of the early leaders. Brian Wolfmeier led the early laps but a crash on lap eleven involving the third, fourth and fifth place cars of Mark Oller, Mark Voigt and Ed Dixon slowed the field. Voigt's car ended up on top of Oller's machine, however Oller was the only car able to restart from the incident. On the restart, the first and second place car of Brian Wolfmeier and Tim Ratajczyk got together and spun and collected several other cars in the process. Jeff Johns inherited the lead after this incident but Dave Jumper used the high side to make the pass on Johns and Jumper went on to victory. Johns held off Denny Woodworth to claim second. Butch Kruckeberg crossed the line after Woodworth …

May 7, 2005 Results

Pevely, MO (May 7, 2005) A full field of twenty-six UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Late Models signed in at the gate to compete at I-55 Raceway. Billy Faust started on the pole for the main event and rocketed into the lead when the green flag dropped. Faust opened up a half straight-away lead early on in the event. A couple of early caution periods would keep the field together and after a restart on lap twelve, Justin Allgaier found the right line around the 1/3 mile oval and wrestled the lead away from Faust. Allgaier, from Riverton, IL was able to open a small lead and then held off the challenges of Ed Dixon late in the race to earn the win. Allgaier, who runs a limited schedule in the ARCA and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, took advantage of some time off on the pavement to run this event. This …
