Jeff Leka claims Ken Schrader Modified Challenge at I-55 Raceway!

Jeff Leka CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (October 20, 2007) The 3rd Annual Ken Schrader Modified Challenge attracted ninety-eight U.M.P. DIRTcar Modifieds drivers from around the Midwest and featured some great racing action. Jeff Leka of Buffalo, Illinois, who finished second in the U.M.P. DIRTcar Modified National Point Standings in 2007, led the final thirty-two laps and claimed the victory. Leka had to change his car number before the event got started because the track didn't allow duplicate numbers. Leka added a zero behind his familiar number three and over the letter L, changing his number to 30 instead of 3L. As fate would have it, this would become Leka's 30th victory in 2007.

Bielong, Ems & Eilers takes I-55 Raceway Fall Nationals wins!

Brian Bielong CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (October 6, 2007) The 6th Annual Fall Sportsman Nationals drew a record field as seventy-nine U.M.P. DIRTcar/A.A.R.A. Sportsman cars checked in to compete for coveted crown. There were also forty-one U.M.P. DIRTcar/A.A.R.A. Pure Stocks and thirty-nine U.M.P. DIRTcar/A.A.R.A. Pro 4 Stocks on hand to battle in those divisions. Line-X of Jefferson County, Ski Soda, Missouri/illinois Dodge Dealers and Hoosier Tires were the title sponsors for this special event featuring tough local and regional drivers.

Clint Smith CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (September 15, 2007) What do you get when you have a cool, crisp Missouri evening, spectacular track preperation, a pit area packed with 133 racecars, and a standing room only crowd? Answer: The 25th Annual Pepsi Nationals at I-55 Raceway that will have people talking for a long time! The World of Outlaw Late Model Series combined with the UMP DIRTcar Late Models were the headline event. Thirty-nine drivers from twelve different states signed in to compete for the $10,000 top prize. Steve Francis got the night started by setting fast time in qualifying with a lap of 12.377 seconds around the 1/3 mile high bank oval for an average lap speed of 96.857 miles per hour.

Korte, Bauman, Medley & Fisher take wins at I-55 Raceway!

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (August 25, 2007) Thirty-four Mid-America Racing Series (MARS) and United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) DIRTcar Super Late Models rolled through the gates at I-55 Raceway for the MARS/UMP Clash which awarded $5,000 to the winner. It was Highland, Illinois' Randy Korte earning the top spot as he held of the challenges of Will Vaught and led all forty laps of the main event. Vaught was looking for a repeat of a race last month at I-55 Raceway when he swept past Korte in the final lap to take the win. However, Korte proved too strong this time around as he worked lapped traffic flawlessly and separated himself from Vaught as they battled through the traffic. Korte, Bittle, Nations & Fisher take wins at I-55 Raceway!

PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (August 18, 2007) Randy Korte of Highland, IL claimed the UMP DIRTcar Late Model main event at I-55 Raceway in his debut outing of the new paint scheme honoring his son's graduation from U.S. Army Basic Training. Korte took the lead on lap four from Belleville, IL's Jeff Johns. Johns took the lead using his outside front row starting position, but Korte, who started on the pole, soon moved past Johns and led the final twenty-one laps enroute to the victory. The first caution flew on lap eleven for Paul Roider's spin in turn two. Then, just three laps later, Dewayne Kiefer made contact with Danny Haynes as the two battled for the fourth spot, sending Kiefer's car spinning into the inside wall going into turn one. Korte, Bittle, Medley & Fisher take I-55 Raceway victories!

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (August 11, 2007) Hot temperatures led to some hot racing action at I-55 Raceway. Randy Korte of Highland, IL scorched the field in the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division. Korte led all twenty-five laps of the main event that was marred by a tremendous four car crash on lap two right in front of the flag stand on the front straight away. Don Klein, Darren Forrest, Brad White and Matt Santel were involved in the crash. Brad White and Matt Santel both escaped uninjured but Don Klein and Darren Forrest were taken out of the track by ambulance. Klein walked to the ambulance and Forrest was alert but was put on a backboard. After the race was restarted Korte took command and held off several brief challenges from Danny Haynes before the race was slowed again when Michael Kloos experienced a …

CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY Pevely, MO (August 4, 2007) Mother Nature turned up the heat with a very hot and muggy night and the racers responded by turning up the action. A total of 108 race cars in the four divisions filled the pit area. A strong field of twenty-eight U.M.P. DIRTcar Super Late Models came through the gates and provided the fans with some great racing. NASCAR veteran and I-55 Raceway Co-owner Ken Schrader claimed his third late model victory (fifth win overall counting two UMP Modified wins) of the season at I-55 Raceway. Schrader, who finished twenty-fifth in last week's Brickyard 400, also raced every night of the week this past week on dirt tracks all throughout the Midwest in his modified.
