Pevely, MO (October 4, 2003) A strong field of U.M.P. Late Models turned out for the U.M.P. Challenge of Champions Extravaganza, which the winner would take home $15,000. The event provided a unique format in which there were 20 qualifying races throughout the summer at various tracks where a driver could lock himself into the main event. Thirteen different drivers had locked themselves into the main event, but it was Billy Faust taking home the big prize. Faust, who had run 16 of the 20 Challenge of Champions qualifiers, had still not guaranteed himself a starting spot in the main event. Faust was able to get himself into the main event by finishing third in the Dash, which consisted of the top U.M.P. Challenge of Champions point contenders that were not already locked in. The feature event provided the fans with hair-raising, edge of your seat action. Randy Korte took …

Pevely, MO (August 23, 2003) One hundred and five race cars filled the pit area on a near perfect Saturday evening at I-55 Raceway. Twenty-nine U.M.P. Late Models signed in including a rare visit by Randy Korte who had a brand new C.J. Rayburn Late Model that he and his crew put together this week, they didn't even have time to get the car lettered, therefore he just had a yellow X on the side of the car. It was Korte who took the spotlight as he took the lead on the opening lap of the twenty-five lap main event. Korte, who started on the outside of the front row along side Ed Dixon, used the cushion along the top to establish a big lead early. Dixon grabbed the second spot and moved to the top to chase Korte, but he had to contend with Justin Allgaier who moved up …
