Pevely, MO (July 23rd, 2011) I-55 Raceway honored Laura Jones Jumper with a special Memorial Race to show their appreciation for everything she did for I-55 Raceway and racing in general. Marathon Financial and Vinson Mortgage came onboard to sponsor the event that included a big increase in the purse for all four divisions.
Mark Voigt would claim the UMP DIRTcar Late Model main event, even with an engine popping and sputtering for most of the event. Voigt said in victory lane that the fuel pump was having issues and he was thankful that it lasted through the entire event. Jeff Beyers had his best run of 2011 at I-55 Raceway, finishing in the second spot after a great battle in the closing laps with Randy Korte, who would take third. Jeff Johns would claim the fourth spot just ahead of Tim Manville.
Michael Long has had great success all over Missouri, Illinois and Iowa in recent years, racking up lots of wins in the Modified division. However, Long has always struggled in his few appearances at I-55 Raceway. Long finally broke that curse by dominating the thirty lap main event. Long took the lead from Scott Weber on lap nine and cruised to victory from there. Paul Bauman made a late race charge and would move up to a second place finish. Weber would finish third with Tim Hancock taking fourth. Timmy Hill would make a late race pass on Dennis Richards to get a top five finish.
Kenny Rumble made a rare start in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman division and picked up a huge payday for that division. Rumble not only collected the $1,000 feature win, but also won the Vinson Mortgage Dash and picked up another $500. Rumble led all thirty laps of the feature event, holding off Troy Naeger early on, then a late race run by Jeff Herzog, who would finish second. Jon Ripperda would get third with Troy Medley claiming fourth. Naeger would round out the top five.
Rob Shaw would claim the top prize in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Earl Pryor would make the race interesting in the closing laps, but came up just short in the end and would settle for second. Mike McGinnitey would take third with Aron Faulkner finish fourth. Kyle McMahon rounded out the top five.
Cole Sellers would get the win in the KidModz division.
