Pevely, MO (August 30, 2008) One of the largest crowds in recent history turned out for Fan Appreciation Night at I-55 Raceway that included over 1100 kids participating in the Nickel Race. They also got to see a spectacular night of racing for just $5 admission into the grandstands.
In the UMP Late Model division, Billy Faust pulled off yet another victory and increased his lead in the point standings as I-55 Raceway crowns their season champions next weekend. Jeff Johns took the lead in the feature event at the drop of the green flag. Johns would pace the first ten laps of the main event, however, as the leaders got into lapped traffic, Faust made daring move as he moved past Johns and went squeezed right down the middle of two lapped cars to pull out to a strong lead. Faust would proceed to worked the lapped cars flawlessly as the main event went the entire twenty-five laps without a caution allowing him to win handily over Johns. Mark Voigt would finish in the third spot with Tim Manville finishing fourth and Chad Zobrist fifth.

Ken Rumble picked up his first ever UMP Modified victory at I-55 Raceway as he drove the McGraw Brothers Motorsports owned entry in only his third night behind the wheel. Rumble, who had raced a Super Late Model around the area for many years, took over driving duties of the McGraw owned car after Todd McGraw broke some ribs in a crash a few weeks earlier. Rumble took the lead on the opening lap and led the entire twenty-laps of the main event. Ray Walsh was able to make an occassional challenge for the lead, but Rumble was just too strong, forcing Walsh to settle for second. Tim Hancock would finish in third, just ahead of his younger half-brother Tommie Seets, Jr. who finished fourth. Doug Wood rounded out the top five.

Troy Naeger kept his chances alive to win a third straight championship in the UMP/AARA Sportsman division as he edged out the current point leader Jeff Herzog for the victory. Herzog led the first half of the event, but Naeger steadily worked the high side and finally completed the pass on Herzog and led the rest of the distance to earn the win. Herzog would finish second with Tim Hollerbach, Steve Edgecomb and Trey Harris rounding out the top five.

Homer Mooney paced all ten laps of the UMP/AARA Pro 4 Stock main event. Jacob Buechting finished in the second position with Pat Brewer taking third. Jason Marquitz would finish in fourth and Gary Range took fifth.
