Pevely, MO (May 12, 2007) Danny Haynes became the fourth different winner in the first four nights of racing at I-55 Raceway in the U.M.P. Late Model division. The night looked to belong to Ed Dixon as he led the first eighteen laps of the main event after winning his heat race and the Dash. But Haynes found the right line and powered past Dixon and pulled away to take the victory. Dixon would come home second. After a hard crash last week, Craig Smith stormed back this week and finished third in the main event. Brent Kreke would also have a strong night as he brought his machine home in the fourth spot after winning his qualifying heat race as well. Dewayne Kiefer continued his strong start to the 2007 racing season by winning his qualifying heat race and completing the top five in the main event.
The U.M.P. Modified division continues to be one of the most exciting classes to watch at I-55 Raceway. Bobby Martintoni swiped the win from Mark Miner in the final laps. At the drop of the green flag, it looked like another exciting Ray Walsh and Bobby Bittle battle for the win as the two started side-by-side on the front row, but Bittle would have to pull of the track after just one lap as his engine lost oil pressure. Walsh would jump to the lead and lead the first eight laps before Mark Miner would move past him on the high side. Then Martintoni would get past Walsh a few laps later and begin to hunt down Miner for the top spot. Martintoni slipped past Miner with just a couple of laps remaining and earn the victory. Miner took second, Walsh was third. Tom Ratajczyk recovered from an early multi-car crash and took the fourth spot. Jerry Grither completed the top five.
Troy Medley earned his first U.M.P. Sportsman victory of the season at I-55 Raceway. Medley led the entire distance as held Jimmy Cummins at bay. Jeff Herzog would take third and Kent Nations was fourth. Danny Ems had his best run in his rookie season in the Sportsman division as he took the fifth position.
Conrad Miner took the win in the U.M.P. / A.A.R.A. Pro 4 Stock division. Miner battled Chris Fisher for most of the way, but Fisher would suffer mechanical problems on the final lap and lose several spots before coasting across the line. Jason Crump would take second, Trey Harris was third and Homer Mooney and Gary Price would complete the top five.
