Pevely, MO (June 19, 2004) Clay Baumann has been racing late models for the past seven years and had never won a feature event until last Saturday night at I-55 Raceway. After getting the monkey off his back last week, Baumann came back this week and claimed his second straight U.M.P.(United Midwestern Promoters) Late Model feature win at I-55 Raceway. For the second straight week Baumann had to pass the very tough veteran Kevin Gundaker to earn the win.

Gundaker took the lead on the opening lap and led the first eighteen laps. But once Gundaker got into lapped traffic, Baumann closed the gap quickly and then moved around Gundaker on the high side. Justin Allgaier moved past Gundaker on the next lap and began to chase down Baumann for the lead. Allgaier caught Baumann with just two laps to go, but Allgaier got into the left rear of Baumann coming out of turn four to take the white flag, which caused Allgaier's car to get sideways. This allowed Baumann to open up a comfortable lead and go on to pick up the win. Allgaier held off Gundaker to claim second. Mark Oller had one of his best showings of the season and finish fourth, with Tim Ratajczyk completing the top five.

Bobby Bittle earned a hard fought win in the U.M.P. Modified division. Bittle and Mark Miner battled side-by-side for the five laps of the main event before Bittle moved ahead to take the lead. Meanwhile, Ray Walsh was working his way up from the twelfth starting position to battle for the lead. Walsh moved past Miner late in the race and then battled with Bittle the last few laps for the lead. Bittle held Walsh off and took the win. Miner held on for third, with Brian Wolfmeier taking fourth and Doug Wood fifth.

Jim Shereck earned the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealer's Hard Charger Award. Shereck started twenty-first in the main event after winning the semi feature and worked his way through the field and finished ninth.

Scott Stuppy brought the broom out in the AARA Sportsman division as he swept the night's events. Stuppy battled with David Bardin early on in the feature and then held off Paul Bauman by a half-car length to earn the win. Troy Naeger muscled his Dodge Intrepid to a third place finish, with Ricky Horton claiming fourth and Bob Schmidt fifth. Stuppy also won the G&M Steel Dash for Cash to pick up the $100 prize.

Dave Heinrichs powered his Dodge Neon to victory in the AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Pat Brewer took the second spot over Homer Mooney. Gary Price came home fourth and Don Ernst completed the top five.
