Pevely, MO (July 5, 2003) Don O'Neal continues to be as hot as the summer weather. O'Neal led all forty laps enroute to his second straight and fourth overall U.M.P. Summer Nationals victory of 2003. O'Neal started on the inside of the second row and took the lead going into turn three on the opening lap as front row starters Ed Dixon and Shannon Babb each bobbled on the opening lap.

Dixon brought out the first caution on just the second lap when he found the wall in turn three. On the restart, O'Neal assumed command and pulled away to a comfortable lead, leaving Babb to battle with Randy Korte, Billy Moyer and Kevin Weaver for second. The race went the next twenty-five laps without a caution, allowing O'Neal to put half the field a lap down. The caution waved on lap twenty-seven when Billy Drake slowed on the front stretch with a flat tire.

O'Neal once again opened up a sizeable lead over Moyer, who had moved past Babb just a few laps earlier. The race was once again slowed on lap thirty-three as Jeep Van Wormer slowed. On the final restart, Moyer was able to stay close and battle with O'Neal for the next five laps, but O'Neal once again opened up the lead in the final couple of laps. Following O'Neal and Moyer across the line was Randy Korte in third, Shannon Babb fourth and Terry English fifth.

Brian Worley picked up his first U.M.P. Modified feature win at I-55 Raceway. Worley held off challenge after challenge to pick up the win. Scott Weber provided the early heat on Worley along with Dennis Richards. Then Brian Wolfmeier moved up and took the lead away from Worley, but Wolfmeier found himself headed to the pit area soon after with front suspension problems. Bobby Bittle then moved up and provided a late race challenge, but Worley held him off to take the win. Richards came home third, Ray Walsh moved up from the twentieth starting spot to finish fourth and Jim Shereck was fifth.

Paul Belken won the AARA Sportsman feature once again. Belken led the duration of the event. Two big crashes marred this event, the first happening on the opening lap involved thirteen cars. Five of those cars were unable to restart. The second big crash came on lap five when Ed Lowry clipped the back pit gate and was collected by seven more cars. The race then went the distance caution free and Paul Bauman followed Belken across the line for second place. Scott Stuppy was third, Todd McGraw fourth and David Bardin was fifth.
