Korte, Walsh, Bauman & Geary get victories at I-55 Raceway!
Pevely, MO (July 30, 2005) Randy Korte led all twenty-five laps of the main event enroute to victory in the UMP Late Model division at I-55 Raceway. Ed Dixon battled throughout the event with Korte, but was unable to get along side him and followed him across the line in second. Matt Taylor fought with Dixon and Tim Ratajczyk for most of the early going for the second spot and came home in third. Ratajczyk brought home the fourth position and Billy Faust rounded out the top five. NASCAR star Ken Schrader was unable to start the feature event after a hard crash with Craig Smith in the dash.
Jim Werner, Jr. and Scott Weber put on a fierce battle in the UMP Modified division in the first half of the event. The two ran side-by-side and traded the lead several times. Ray Walsh moved up to challenge for the lead in the closing laps. He slipped past Weber into the second spot and then pulled along side Werner on the final lap but crossed the line just behind Werner. Werner appeared to be the winner but he failed to go to the scales immediately after the trophy presentation. Walsh was declared the winner with Weber second, Brian Worley third, Bobby Bittle fourth and Tom Ratajczyk in the fifth spot.
Paul Bauman won the AARA Sportsman main event as he and Paul Belken battled in out over the fifteen lap distance. Chuck Adams crossed the line in a close third with Kent Nations and Ronnie Bader rounding out the top five.
Scott Geary took the AARA Pro 4 Stock feature win as he edged out Jason Crump. Pat Brewer took third with Dustin Korte and Mike McMullen fourth and fifth.
